Every one does this differently but I will tell you how I do it so that you can take it and tweak it to work for you!*What coupons should I clip? I clip any coupon that I think that I could possibly use. Many of the coupons I would only use if I could get the product free or almost free but I have them clipped in case I find that great deal! For example, I always clip coupons for disposable razors but I only use them when I can get the razors for free with coupon.
*How many coupons should I save? I would save as many coupons as you can for a product. If there is a great sale on Skippy peanut butter and you only have one coupon, you will only get the great deal on one jar. If you have 5 coupons, then you can buy 5 jars. This will, most likely, last you until the next sale so you won't have to pay full price for the item.
*Are you brand loyal? With most products, I am not brand loyal. Much to the dismay of my husband, I will buy whatever toilet paper is on sale (with a coupon!). When you save all of your coupons, you are able to get some great deals. If you save only the coupons of certain products, you will end up spending a lot more. We tend to use Crest toothpaste but when we can get Aquafresh or Colgate for free with a coupon, we don't pass it up.
*What should I do with the coupons that I don't clip? I never throw away any of my inserts. Every once in awhile, a deal comes up that will make me money (yes, I actually get paid to take things out of the store on occassion) and I need a coupon that I had not clipped. I go back through my inserts (I always write the date on the front) and find that coupon.
