Meijer Explained

I do most of my grocery shopping at Meijer. Although Walmart (Meijer’s only competition in my area) often has lower prices, Meijer runs various promotions that often beat even the lower prices at Walmart.

Kalamazoo area Meijer stores:
*Does not double coupons :(
*Weekly sale runs from Sunday – Saturday
*Weekly sale ad: Be aware that not everything in the ad is on sale. The weekly ad includes sale items, price drops, and everyday best prices.

Meijer Coupons:
*Meijer coupons can be stacked with a manufacturer coupon, meaning that you can use a Meijer coupon AND a manufacturer coupon on ONE product.
*Meijer Mealbox coupons: Meijer releases printable coupons on the Meijer website. You can go to this site and print several on one page.
*Meijer Coupons in-store: From time to time you can find Meijer coupons in the store. You will most likely find them on the shelf with the weekly ads.

Meijer Promotions:
*Weekly Sales: Each week Meijer issues a sale ad with their best sales of the week.
*Price Drop: In order to be competitive with Walmart’s Rollback on prices, Meijer introduced price drops. These prices are not as good as sale prices but are lower than the every day prices.
*Everyday Best Price: This is the price that you will find every day for particular products. Some products are advertised as their every day best price is a competitive price.
*Instant Savings: When you buy a certain number of a product, you will get a $ amount off. For example, a recent promotion was buy 4 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal, get $2 off instantly at the register.
*Catalina Coupons: Catalina coupons are the coupons that print out of the machine at the register. Meijer has promotions that if you buy a certain number of a product, you will get a Catalina coupon for $ off your next order. For example, a recent promotion was buy 5 Kraft cheese, get $5 off on your next order.

How to Shop at Meijer:
The best way to shop at Meijer is to combine as many of the coupons and promotions as possible. I recently had a Meijer coupon and a manufacturer’s coupon for Velveeta Shells and Cheese. I waited to use these coupons when a Catalina deal became available. Not only was I able to use two coupons on one product, I was also able to get a Catalina back for my next order.
