I wanted to take some time to post about Spectacular Savings - where it started and how it has changed over time. When I started this blog, I was hoping to share my deals with friends and family and get others as excited as I was about saving money. I provided matchups to the Meijer deals most weeks but I didn't usually get them done until Monday or Tuesday. And I posted lots of pictures of my sweet girls. My readers were friends and family and my posts reflected that.
Eventually, my friends started sharing Spectacular Savings with their friends and family and I began linking my savings trips to larger blogs. All of a sudden, I had some readers that I didn't even know! People from other states, even other countries from time to time. As my blog started growing, I started posting more consistently. At about that same time, I began "talking" with other bloggers and they let me in on a little secret. Many of the things I was already posting about were affiliates, meaning I could make money off of these posts. Not a lot but something for my time. Slowly, my hobby turned into an opportunity to supplement our income. My first priority will always be to help other save (and more) but I do hope to make some money at the same time.
With that said, when monetizing my blog, I am very picky. I do not post just anything in order to make money. When deciding on what to post, I make sure it is something that I would feel comfortable with, something that I would be willing to do myself. I also select deals based on the feedback I receive from my readers!
Here are a few examples of how I monetize Spectacular Savings:
*Coupon prints - When you click on my Coupons.com link and print, I receive some compensation.
*Referrals - When you sign up for sites like Swagbucks, Groupon, Opinion Outpost and others through my link, I receive a referral bonus. If a site offers a referral bonus, I do use my link in the post.
*Orders - If you click on my Amazon link and order something, I receive some compensation. When photo deals pop up, I often receive compensation. The SeeHere Christmas card deal is a great example! You got a great deal on cards, I earned a little money.
While I do post some affiliate links, many of my posts do not include affiliate links. Here are a few examples of non-affiliate posts:
*Cooking with the Kiddos and Freezer Meal Fridays - Most of these do not include affiliate links.
*Most of my Meijer and Rite Aid posts do no contain affiliate links (unless there is a coupon from Coupons.com included in the matchups).
