One of my goals for 2012 is to make more "real" food, cook from scratch, try some recipes for homemade, natural foods. There are so many recipes that I've wanted to try for awhile now but would get a little overwhelmed - too many ideas rumbling around in my head. To make it a little less overwhelming, I'm going to try doing one new "real" food recipe per month.
And here's my list.......
January: Yogurt
February: Refried Beans
March: Granola Bars
April: Bread Machine Bread
May: Taco Seasoning
June: Fruit Leather
July: Wheat Thin Crackers
August: Salsa
September: Homemade Tortillas
October: Bread Crumbs
November: Vanilla Extract
December: Chicken Nuggets
This list is certainly not set in stone. If I feel the need to try the Wheat Thins Crackers in March, I'll move things around and try them in March. I have a few recipes
saved pinned (don't you just LOVE Pinterest) to try but if you have
any recommendations of great recipes for any of these foods, please send me the link or the recipe!
(Ahem, Danielle, that means you! Yes, I need your yogurt recipe for the 400th time. This time I promise I'll use it and save it.)
And, of course, if you've tried something you'd like to share, I would be more than happy to feature. And, I'm sure everyone else would enjoy it as well!
Fun!! Can't wait to see how the yogurt making goes. Oh, and I tried fruit leather this past weekend... didn't go as well as I had hoped, but it wasn't a total disaster (Sydney loved it)! I gotta get going with Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteYogurt is on the list for next week - eek!! I can't tell you how many times I've bought the starter yogurt and never did it!! This time I have to!
ReplyDeleteHere's the link for the yogurt! Have fun w/ it! My in-laws tried making it the other day, but I don't think their crock pot got warm enough. Mine gets too warm so I shorten the warming time. It may take a few times to get the hang of it. Remember not to use a starter w/ pectin in it. I use Fage. It's a little more pricy, but totally worth it. Also, I strain mine when it's done... in a strainer lined w/ a tea towel. (The kitchen towels from Ikea work fine - I think you have those). Helps thicken it up.
