I'll be honest, I haven't been to JCPenney since they changed their pricing. And I hadn't really thought much about it until this weekend while I was talking to my mom. She was shopping at JCP and one of the first things that she said..... "There aren't any sales." And, to that, I responded with "Have you not seen the commercials with women screaming at sale signs and their large pile of coupons? Or the one with Ellen DeGeneres as a cowgirl trying to use coupons?" She had but hadn't really paid attention.
For those of you like my mother and may not be in the loop, JCP has turned their sale prices into their every day prices. They also simplified their pricing. No longer will you see something that costs $4.99. Now it's $5. Here's an article that goes into greater detail about the new changes that JCP has made.
So, I'm wondering what your thoughts are this change. Is this a welcome change - no worry about whether or not the item is on sale or not? Or do you feel better when you get a "sale?"
My thoughts: Since I really haven't seen the prices, I don't know if they are comparable to their sale prices or how they compare to Kohl's and other department stores. But some of the things that my mom was saying made me question this change. She did mention that the prices were lower but she was still wondering if she could get it cheaper at Kohl's, especially with a coupon. I think, as a society, we like to get a deal. And when we see that sale sign, we feel like we're getting deal.
